I had previously applied a couple of times, but to no success. Now that I got the invitation, what are the odds that the meeting will be cancelled due to the economic troubles in Greece (or the planes won´t fly,…..)

After I was put on the waiting list in the last round, I contacted the organizers and had some mail exchange with William Gelbart. If you are interested in details on the selection procedure, I could retrieve it. Most important and disappointing to me at that time was that they did not accept any starting group leader (in the first 3 years of independence) in the past years. As a reason it was indicated that it is assumed that at this stage people do not have enough to tell yet…In principle, I feel that if people organize an event, they can do as they like, but for an EMBO-funded conference I found that a very questionable concept.
We could approach EMBO with this argument and inquire for support of the JEDIs. Opinions?
